What Is Proposition 65?

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly known as Proposition 65 or “Prop 65,” requires businesses to provide a clear and reasonable warning before knowingly exposing any individual to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

The State of California maintains a list of over 900 chemicals subject to Prop 65 warnings. Many of these chemicals occur naturally in the environment, in foods, and in common products.

Why Nutropx® Products Carry This Warning

Some ingredients used in dietary supplements — including certain herbs, botanical extracts, and minerals — may naturally contain trace amounts of chemicals on California’s Prop 65 list, such as lead, cadmium, or other heavy metals found in soil. This warning is required by California law when trace levels are present, even if those levels are far below thresholds considered harmful by federal regulatory agencies such as the FDA.
